I need to cite a print book in MLA format.

Answer

You can find the Lanier Tech 9th ed. MLA Guide on the MLA Style Tab of the Citation Guides Research Guide.

Format:

Author Last Name, Author First Name. Title of Book: Subtitle of Book. City of Publication, Publisher, Year of Publication.

An example citation can be found here.

Format:

1st Author Last Name, Author First Name, and 2nd Author First Name Last Name. Title of Book: Subtitle of Book. City of Publication, Publisher, Year of Publication.

NOTE: When a book has multiple authors, order the authors in the same way they are presented in the book. The first given name appears in last name, first name format; subsequent author names appear in first name last name format.

Sample Citation:

Wilson, Laura, and Emma Dickinson. Respondent Centred Surveys: Stop, Listen and Then Design. London, Sage, 2022.

NOTE: If there are three or more authors, list only the first author followed by the phrase et al. (Latin for "and others") in place of the subsequent authors' names.

Sample Citation:

Gerrish, Howard H., et al. Electricity. Tinley Park, IL, Goodheart-Willcox, 2020.
